Elton Wants to Cast Justin Timberlake?... Huh

In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, Elton John talked about the status of a number of projects he plans to work on in 2012, including a new album.

But perhaps the most exciting deal on the horizon is his forthcoming biopic, which John describes as “a surreal look at my life, and not just a factual look at my life, more in the manner of a Moulin Rouge.” There’s a script (penned by Billy Elliot scribe Lee Hall), and a director and star will both be chosen in the next few months.

So who is John’s number top choice to play him in the film? “I’ve got a wish list of people. No. 1 on my wish list is Justin Timberlake,” he told the paper.

There is one key reason why that casting choice wouldn’t work: Timberlake and John don’t look anything like one another, even considering what Elton looked like when he was 30 (the age Timberlake is now).

However, there are so many reasons why this would be an awesome casting choice that we hope that Elton didn’t jinx it by saying Timberlake’s name out loud. (In this way, JT is like Candyman or Beetlejuice.)

If we ignore In Time (and based on box office receipts, most of you did), Timberlake has the acting chops to inhabit John’s whirlwind persona the same way he gave life to Sean Parker in The Social Network. We know he can sing, and he can certainly tickle the ivories.

We don’t even have to worry about Timberlake carrying a full-length movie, if indeed it’s not a straightforward biography (in our minds, it looks a lot like Across the Universe) — all JT would have to do is strap a series of music videos on his back.

Most importantly, Timberlake has already played the role, pretty exquisitely:In 2001, Elton released Songs From the West Coast, a fantastically underrated throwback album that contained some of his strongest songwriting in years. One of those singles was a tune called “This Train Don’t Stop There Anymore,” which got a video treatment in 2002 that starred Timberlake as John in “Rocket Man” mode.

In four minutes, he managed to capture John’s incredible combination of glam gloss and internal melancholy, which should be all he needs to carry the film.

Check out the video below, and watch out for Paul Reubens playing John’s manager John Reid. Heck, he should get a role in the movie too:

ReadeRs, what do you think? Any other casting ideas? Let us know in the comments below

Lets Go out to Dinner... Car theft Trick...lol

The 27-year-old Floridian was on a movie date last week with Sarah Bush, 35, when he asked for her car keys so that he could retrieve something from the vehicle.

Bush gave him the keys and went back to watching “Immortals” (Pratt had paid for the movie tickets, while Bush shelled out for a nacho combo).

However, Pratt--who had been dating Bush for two weeks--never returned to the Cobb Theater in Wesley Chapel. When Bush departed, she realized that her rented Ford Focus had been stolen.

When she called Pratt, he left no doubt about the whereabouts of her wheels: “Ha ha I stole your car,” he said, according to a Pasco County Sheriff’s Office report.

The vehicle, owned by Enterprise Rent-A-Car, was recovered Sunday in a Walmart parking lot after Pratt called Bush and told her where he abandoned the $13,000 vehicle.

When cops caught up with Pratt Wednesday he copped to swiping the car and leaving it at the Walmart in New Port Richey. As a result, he was arrested for felony grand theft and booked into the Pasco County lockup in lieu of $5000 bond

WTF: Facebook and Child Porn

A week after a Chicago man was jailed for posting to Facebook a photo showing his daughter bound and gagged with painter’s tape, an Arizona couple was arrested yesterday for uploading similarly disturbing photos of their two young children bound with duct tape.

After being tipped to the Facebook photos, cops arrested Frankie Almuina, 20, and Kayla Almuina, 19, on felony child abuse charges. The married suspects are pictured in the mug shots at right.

According to a Coconino County Sheriff’s Office report, the photos showed two children--a 10-month-old girl and a two-year-old boy--with duct tape around their ankles and wrists. Their mouths were also taped shut. In one image, the boy is seen hanging upside down from a piece of exercise equipment.

The children--neither of whom was harmed by the taping--have been placed in the custody of their paternal grandparents, according to sheriff’s officials. The Almuinas are both being held in the Flagstaff jail in lieu of $25,000 bail, records show.

During an interview yesterday with deputies, Kayla Almuina insisted that the duct-taping of the children “was all in good fun.” She even showed cops photos on her cell phone that depicted her infant daughter “with tape over her mouth and tape around her wrists." In the sheriff's report, a deputy wrote that, “I could only describe a ‘look of terror’ in her eyes. She was obviously upset in these photographs.”

Almuina said that her husband had put the tape on their children, while she snapped the photos that were later uploaded to Facebook. Following that admission, the couple was placed under arrest and handcuffed.

In a subsequent interview, Almuina said that her son Lorenzo was playing with the tape when her husband decided to bind him. At one point, she added, Frankie Almuina hung his son “upside down by his ankles” from “a weight machine located in the living room.”

When asked why her daughter appeared to be crying in the photos, Almuina explained that the infant “had shots that day and was generally in a poor mood.” She also contended that the taping “was not in any way a punishment and was done in fun as a game.”

Frankie Almuina told investigators that he was “playing with the kids and decided to tape them up.” Noting that “this is something that he had done at least one time previously,” Almuina acknowledged that he had placed his children (pictured above) in danger and that they would “not be able to break these bonds if for some reason they needed or wanted to.”

Last week, a 21-year-old Chicago man was charged with felony domestic battery for allegedly using painter's tape to bind his one-year-old daughter’s wrists, ankles, and mouth. Andre Curry then posted a photo of the bound girl to his Facebook page. The disturbing image, taken on December 13, prompted outrage from Curry’s Facebook friends, one of who apparently contacted authorities.

Beyonce Has Baby Girl Named "Ivy Blue Carter" Today!

Beyonce and Jay Z have finally welcomed their first child together, with the Single Ladies singer giving birth to a daughter via scheduled C-section in New York on Saturday night (January 6, 2012). The name of the baby has been hotly debated for weeks, though according to E! Online, the superstar couple have opted for Ivy Blue Carter.

SEE THE PICTURES!!!

The couple, who tied the knot in April 2008 after six years of dating, caused online hysteria last year when Beyonce revealed she was pregnant onstage at the MTV Video Music Awards. News of the impending birth spread on Twitter at a rate of 8,686 tweets per second – a new record for the social media service. Friends of the couple have already begun sending their messages of congratulations, with music mogul Russell Simmons tweeting, “congrats to my good friends Beyonce and Jay-Z”. Barbadian R&B queen Rihanna said, “Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih”. During an interview with the Punch Bowl Blog this weekend, Beyonce’s former DESTINY’S CHILD band-mate Michelle Williams said Ivy Blue Carter would certainly make something of herself, saying, “They're going to be the coolest parents in the world. I'm sure that child will be spoiled rotten but it better have some talent. I think it's going to be a gifted, gifted kid”.

According to early reports, a healthy Ivy Blue was born at New York’s St Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital late on Saturday, though it is not clear when the new family will leave the facility
